Children won’t change Naomi’s career

January 5th, 2008

Naomi Watts has laughed off speculation she’ll focus solely on making family films now she’s a mum. Naomi gave birth to baby Alexander last July (07), and has been inundated with questions over her career plans now she has an impressionable youngster to raise. She says, “Am I going to become a Disney girl? No! Someone asked me whether I’d make Funny Games now as a parent. I think I would. I’d hope that my child, when he’s ready to see it – which won’t be for a very, very long time – would understand it and if he didn’t we’d do our best to explain it to him. But I’m not going to suddenly turn up in popcorn movies just because I’ve got a kid now.”

Naomi Watts talks about Michael Haneke

January 5th, 2008

Naomi Watts struggled to work under “difficult” director Michael Haneke because he forced her to go against her acting instincts.
When she worked with Haneke on Funny Games U.S., the U.S. remake of Haneke’s 1998 Austrian Funny Games, she discovered his reputation as a controlling taskmaster was wholly justified.
“He’s very connected to everything, Michael. He’s very specific about every detail: when to pick up the glass, when to move it, when to say the line. It’s a very difficult way for an actor to work.”
“It feels like it goes against my instincts in a way, because you want to intuit your performance, discover it as you go. But I trust Michael. He’s one of the directors everyone will remember.”
“I wanted to learn from him, I wanted this new experience, as different and as awkward as it was.”

“Motherhood is hard work”, says Naomi Watts

January 5th, 2008

Naomi Watts said “I love being a mother! It’s hard work though. Hard work. Luckily what I do isn’t like a regular office job.”

“After ‘Mulholland Drive’ I did go a little crazy, doing two or three things a year. Then after ‘King Kong’ I had a year off, made ‘The Painted Veil’ took another eight months off, did ‘Eastern Promises’ and ‘Funny Games’ back to back and then had my pregnancy.”

“So I’ve slowed down and I want to stick with just one or two films a year now.

“I’m OK right now. I’m sure more will come, but I wanted to be a mother for so long and that was a really big deal for me.”

Naomi in Da Vinci Code prequel

November 25th, 2007

Naomi Watts will star opposite Tom Hanks in the big screen adaptation of Dan Brown’s bestselling prequel to The Da Vinci Code, Angels & Demons, directed by Ron Howard.
As screenwriter Akiva Goldsman is on strike with his Writers Guild of America comrades, production on the movie has been delayed until February.
Naomi will likely play Vittoria Vetra, the adopted daughter of CERN scientist Leonardo Vetra, who meets Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) and tags along with him in his adventure. Together they uncover a plot by the secretive Illuminati to destroy Vatican City.

Let’s hope Tom Hanks will have a less gruesome hairdo this time, so he doesn’t look that bad compared to beautiful Naomi Watts!

Naomi would love to work with Daniel Craig

November 25th, 2007

Naomi told The Mail on Sunday: “I am looking forward to getting back to work, I’m filming in Germany with Clive Owen on a film called The International next month. I’m also hoping to land a role in a movie with Daniel Craig. I’d love to work with him.”
But she wouldn’t appear as a semi-naked Bond-Girl – “Not with my post-baby body”, Naomi said laughing.
I would like to see them together in a film – no matter if Bond or some other movie!
